Beate Fossbakk
Birketvedt
It is with great sadness that I write to inform of the tragically early
passing away on the 28th November 2011 of Beate - wonderful wife, mother
and mother inlaw to 5 pipers and drummers and friend and supporter to
all others in the band. We are all so very stunned and our thoughts,
love and condolences go out to the Birketvedt and Fossbakk families for
their untimely loss of such a wonderful family member and friend to all.
Beate was learning the bagpipes, but from the start, has been a stalwart
behind the scenes and was so proud that she had 5 family members playing
in The Bergen Pipe Band - never more so than when opening a concert at
Oslo Spektrum to 6,000 Brann supporters!
You are irreplaceable and we will all miss you so very much Beate!

A quote about The Bergen
Pipe Band from Bergens Tidende
7th November 2011:
'Den bergenser som ikke fikk
tårer i øynene av Nystemten på
sekkepipe i Ullevålsveien, kan
levere inn sitt bergenske
statsborgerskap med det samme.
Det var fest, det var Brann, det
var Bergen.'
